چکیده
Dural arteriovenous fistulas are contained within the dural leaflets, making them a unique shunt of central nervous system. Those without cortical venous drainage may be found incidentally or in workup pulsatile tinnitus ocular symptoms. These symptoms also occur setting drainage, but additionally, seizures, neurological deficits, even frank hemorrhage because disruption normal parenchymal outflow and resultant hypertension. In debilitating symptomatology management is most often via endovascular therapy transarterial transvenous access to fistulous site subsequent obliteration. Surgical disconnection radiosurgical obliteration excellent alternative treatment options for appropriately selected lesions as well. this article, background demographic natural history data well approaches reviewed.

Cerebral arteriovenous fistulas induced by dural arteriovenous shunts.
Dural arteriovenous shunts and pial arteriovenous fistulas are uncommonly associated. Their etiology, pathogenesis, and natural history are still unclear and are likely different. We present three cases of high-flow dural arteriovenous shunts associated with pial arteriovenous fistulas and discuss their pathogenesis, anatomic association, and angioarchitecture. We propose that venous steal effe...

Spinal dural arteriovenous (AV) fistulas are the most commonly encountered vascular malformation of the spinal cord and a treatable cause for progressive para- or tetraplegia. They most commonly affect elderly men and are classically found in the thoracolumbar region. The AV shunt is located inside the dura mater close to the spinal nerve root where the arterial blood from a radiculomeningeal a...

Four patients with multiple intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) at separate sites were treated by endovascular techniques (transarterial and/or transvenous embolization), surgery (excision or isolation), radiotherapy, or combinations, according to the pathophysiological condition. All lesions in two patients were obliterated completely without neurological deficit. There were resi...
متن کاملDevelopment of sigmoid dural arteriovenous fistulas after transvenous embolization of cavernous dural arteriovenous fistulas.
A 54-year-old woman presented with left proptosis, chemosis, ophthalmoplegia, and tinnitus in March 1989. Angiography demonstrated a left cavernous DA VF. The feeding arteries from the left external carotid artery were embolized. Her symptoms were relieved for a while but soon recurred . On May 2, she was referred to us for treatment. Angiography revealed that all the branches of the left exter...
متن کاملEndovascular Treatment of Intracranial Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas.
Endovascular treatment options for dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) have vastly expanded and become progressively safer in the last several years. Angiographic imaging systems have improved, catheter technology has advanced, and liquid embolic and coil options have increased. As a likely result, an increasing proportion of DAVFs are treated via an endovascular approach. In addition to allow...
